January 15th 2023: Amtrak has announced they are increasing the number of daily trains between Portland and Seattle to six up from the current four. The change will take place later this year in the fall on the popular Amtrak Cascades service.
Amtrack also announced that starting March 7th the Amtrak Cascades service between Seattle and Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada will be restored to its pre pandemic levels. The service will add a second daily route trip service starting March 7th.
A lot of money is going in to the nations rail service after after the Investment in Jobs Act was signed in to law by President Joe Biden. The bill which had bi partisan support gave $66 billion to rail companies including $22 billion that went to Amtrak to improve service as well as add new lines.
